Alphalife UK Autumn 2011 Edition Update (12.1.001 Lib 83)

We recommend that this patch is downloaded prior to assembling the e-filing submission.

We have noticed that some versions of Internet Explorer 6 and 7 hide subtotal underlining on the tax computation. As HMRC uses Internet Explorer 6, it would be beneficial to use this download to aid review of the tax computation. HMRC are supporting us with this issue.

An e-filing issue has been identified for life assurance companies with excess management expenses arising in the shareholder fund. The CT600 box 136 amount (excess management expenses arising) was not being correctly calculated, leading to an e-filing failure when validation checks compare the box 136 and 137 amounts. Note that this only affects companies with shareholder fund management expenses (BLAGAB excess expenses do not give rise to any issue).

Installation instructions

Note. You should only download from this site if you are the person authorised to update Alphalife within your organisation. You must be careful not to compromise the integrity of your system by causing a conflict between the versions of Alphalife used by different members of your organisation. Please verify that you have installed the Alphalife Autumn 2011 Edition CD (12.1.000 Lib 83). To check your version, run Alphalife and click on Help, About on the Menu bar.

  1. Ensure you have a backup of all your data files.
  2. Download the update file to the same folder as you installed Alphalife (usually C: \Program Files\TCSL\TCSL Alphalife).
  3. Unzip the file to the same folder as you installed Alphalife.
  4. Run Alphalife in the normal way and confirm the version is 12.1.001 (Library 83.1). (Help, About on the Menu bar).

We also have an InstallShield script to do a normal/silent update of the relevant files on the workstations from your server.
